I spent the past 2 months photographing a day camp by my house. From the moment I started there, everyone would compare me to the “other” photographer, the one who’s “volunteering” her time this year because she “misses” camp so much. Why were they always trying to COMPARE me to her, I mean I’m ME I shoot the way I do and she does what she does. We’re TWO different people here, stop comparing me.
The day we met she wanted to see what my settings are on my camera and to make sure that everything was set correctly. (Thank You very much but I just GRADUATED with my BFA in PHOTOGRAPHY, I don’t need you to tell me that I don’t know what I am doing, I can handle this myself)
As the summer went on, she would show up from time to time, and had some interesting conversations every now and then. [Me going through Instagram on my phone at work(Sorry About that)], Oh I wish I could take photos like you, I don’t really know what I am doing. (OKAY, so you’re telling me that you have been taking photos here for the past THREE AND A HALF YEARS and YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU’RE DOING!!!!!!!!!!) You have got to be kidding me.
By the end of the summer when she would show up, she tried to be me, tried to imitate my images and my photos,(I’m sorry hunny but you didn’t do it better). For tribal days, there’s a big camp wide relay, she tells me I didn’t get anything from that. (Had my camera in MANUAL the whole time) got the most amazing pictures from that, and I had no idea what was happening the whole time, you did this for THREE YEARS and you couldn’t get any photos from that.
